Patient information

Everything you need to know before your first visit.

What to bring, what to expect, what your insurance covers, how to pay. The goal is for you to arrive with no surprises.

Your first visit

Five steps, no surprises.

A first visit takes 90 minutes. We do all of the following — and we explain each step before we begin.

01

Welcome & paperwork

Jess greets you, checks your insurance and confirms your information. If you filled out the forms online (we recommend it), you go straight back. We offer water, coffee and wifi.

02

Conversation with Dr. Soto

Before any instruments: five minutes sitting down, talking. What worries you, what you want to achieve, what previous treatments you've had. No rush.

03

Exam & digital X-rays

A complete exam of teeth, gums, bite, joint and soft tissues. Low-radiation digital X-rays. Intraoral photos so you can see what we see.

04

Cleaning with Rose

Professional cleaning, polishing, fluoride application if appropriate. If we find issues that require a deeper cleaning, we tell you before doing it.

05

Plan & estimate

Before you leave: a written treatment plan with costs, what your insurance covers, and payment options if you need them. No pressure, no "today-only" deals.

Insurance accepted

We work with most major plans.

Don't see your insurance? Call us: many plans that look "out of network" still cover visits with us.

Finding a good dentist who accepts Medi-Cal can be frustrating — many practices limit these patients. Here, every patient gets the same care. Call us and we'll verify your Medi-Cal benefits before your appointment.

Forms

Fill out your paperwork before you come.

Filling out the forms online or at home saves 15-20 minutes in the waiting room. If you prefer to fill them out when you arrive, that's fine too — we just ask you to come 20 minutes before your appointment.

Prefer to fill them out online? Book your appointment and we'll email you a secure link.

Privacy & HIPAA

Your medical information is protected by federal law.

As a dental practice in the U.S., we are subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). That means we don't share your medical information with anyone without your written permission — except in the specific cases the law allows (your insurance, other care providers, or public authorities in emergencies).

You have the right to:

  • View and copy your dental record whenever you ask
  • Request corrections if you believe something is wrong
  • Know with whom we have shared your information
  • Ask us to limit how it is used or shared
  • Receive confidential communication through the channel you choose (email, phone, text)
  • File a formal complaint without fear of retaliation

Read the full privacy policy, or ask Jess for a printed copy when you come in.

Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most.

Yes, our entire team is bilingual. Dr. Soto, Rose, Jess and all the assistants speak fluent Spanish. You can do everything — forms, conversations, payment plans — in Spanish without a problem.
Yes. We accept Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) along with most PPO and HMO plans. We know finding a dentist who accepts Medi-Cal can be frustrating — here, every patient gets the same care. Call us at (626) 415-7775 and we'll verify your benefits before your appointment.
Yes. For patients without insurance we work with dental financing — CareCredit, Alpheon, Sunbit and Cherry — with monthly payment plans and fast applications. Call us at (626) 415-7775 and we'll give you a clear estimate and payment options before starting any treatment.
Yes, from the first baby tooth (~12 months) through the teenage years. We have a pediatric area with storybooks in Spanish, a "first visit" with no treatment just to get to know each other, and a lot of patience. See children's dentistry →
Yes, free parking in the lot in front of the building. There's also wheelchair access through the main entrance, and the Metro 70 line stops right out front.
You're not alone — more than half of our new patients tell us the same thing at their first appointment. We go slow, we explain everything before doing it, and we offer mild oral sedation if you prefer. The goal is for each visit to be easier than the last.
In most cases, yes. If you call before 11 AM with sharp pain, a broken tooth or an infection, we try to see you that same day. Call us at (626) 415-7775 as soon as possible.
With good care at home (brushing, flossing, regular cleanings with us), a modern dental implant has a life expectancy of 20+ years — many last a lifetime. The crown on top of the implant may need replacement every 10-15 years. Learn more about implants →
Before any cosmetic treatment (veneers, whitening, aligners) we do a digital simulation — you see how you'll look before we begin. If at any point in treatment something doesn't convince you, we stop and talk. Your satisfaction is the metric.
